BAWLY
Came in for dinner the other day,
my wife said I'd had a call from my boss,
seems he just got back from a sale
and he'd bought me a new hoss.
Well I have to admit to bein a little leery,
the last horse he drug home
had sure made me wary.
I skipped dinner and drove on down to his house.
Sure enough, standing in the trailer,
was a pretty little horse, the color of a mouse.
My boss came out, and told me to take him on down to the corral.
Try him out, and see how he handles, says he
Oh and by the way, the fella I bought him from says his name is Bawly.
Bawly? say's I, that seems kinda strange,
but then again what's in a name.
I opened the trailer gate, and he backed right out,
so far, so good
I didn't even have to shout.
Well I saddled him up, and led him around
not even a hump,
never even made a sound.
So I climbed aboard,
and touched him with a spur,
I still don't remember, hitting that hard ground.
I quickly got up, and dusted myself off,
look around, to make sure I was'nt seen.
I climb back aboard, being really careful this time,
I've got his head turned, into my knee
I've got a good holt
I knew he could never get free.
Well he behaved real well, as I rode him in a figures 8.
He done so well, I headed for the gate.
Got about 2 miles from the house, he was doin real well
when all of a sudden, his head disappeared
I was real glad, that I had a deep swell
cause he bucked and he hollered,
he raised lots of hell.
But this time I was ready, I couldn't lose
he bucked and he bucked
but I stuck like glue.
but he was young, and he kept on going
I lost my snuff,
and my sunglasses went flying
and this damn horse,
well, he showed no signs of tiring.
What seems like hours later, he finally stops flailing
I'm tired and bloody, just praying he don't again start bucking cause,
of this I'm fairly sure
if he starts again, I'm going to be bailing.
I turn him around, and we head for the house
just a slow walk, not in a hurry
my eyes are still crossed,
my tongue feels kinda furry
we get to the pens, without anymore trouble
I get him unsaddled,
but I'm still seein' double
my boss wonders out, (yeah both of them) wants to know how he did
I tell him my story, and he just shakes his head.
And the very next day, he hauls this horse back to the sale.
I'm so sore, that I can't even move.
every step, hurts like hell.
But of this I'm sure,
as you'll find out in due course,
if you haven't figured
I'm sure going to miss that horse.
