Sarah Colleen Bivins Jenkins Southard
Sarah Colleen Bivins Jenkins Southard, 76, of Lenoir, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Fla. Mrs. Southard was born March 18, 1931, in Burke County to the late Cleatus and Dora Emma Whistnant Bivins. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her son, Dwight Jenkins and his wife, Darla, of Granite Falls; her daughter, Wanda Clark of Lenoir; a brother, Marion E. Bivins of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren, Tim Jenkins, Brandi Jenkins Stevens and her husband, Robbie and Jason B. Clark; and one great-grandchild, Skylar Stevens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Grant Hoover Jenkins; her second husband, Homer Southard; a son, Grant Edward Jenkins; a grandson, Kenneth D. Clark Jr.; a son-in-law, Kenneth D. Clark Sr.; and a brother, Leroy Bivins. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Pendry's Funeral Home & Crematory of Lenoir with the Rev. Nicky Waters officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060. Pendry's Funeral Home & Crematory of Lenoir is assisting the family with arrangements.
