JB Brackett

SUMMERFIELD - Mr. J.B. Brackett, 93, of 5242 Creed Drive, formerly of Ball Park Road, Lawndale, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at Maryfield Nursing Home in High Point.
He was born Nov. 20, 1914 in Rutherford County, son of the late William Sherman Brackett and Sadie McNeilly Brackett. He was owner and operator of Brackett Supply Company. Mr. Brackett was a former Lawndale Boy Scout Master, member of the Lawndale Lions Club, president of Piedmont PTA, Hospice volunteer and the Lawndale Quartet. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lawndale where he served as former Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher for the Weaver Sunshine Class for more than 30 years, and a certified lay speaker. He also served in the NC State Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ruffin Brackett and Alston Brackett; and two sisters, Leona Wease and Eva Towery.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche Elizabeth Lane Brackett; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Patricia Brackett of Kernersville; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Jeffrey Tedrick of Summerfield; three grandchildren, Peter Brackett and wife, Shonna, Samuel Brackett and wife, Gretchen, and Hope Halso and husband, Matt; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Sunday, Oct. 19, 3 p.m., Rose Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel
Visitation: The family will receive friends Sunday, 2:15 to 3 p.m., at the chapel.
Entombment: Rose Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum
