Clara Mae Scism Towery

VALE — Mrs. Clara Mae Scism Towery, 79, of 199 Luther Scronce Road, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at Lincoln Medical Center.

A native of Cleveland County, she was born February 29, 1924. She was retired from Hickory Springs Manufacturing, where she worked as a spring up hand and was a member of their Century Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Fannie Buff Scism; her husband, William “Bill” Arthur Towery; a daughter, Janet T. Price; a grandson, William J. “Billy” Price; a brother, Johnny Grier Scism; and two sisters, Marie Newton and Helen Scism.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Patsy Scism of Casar; her son-in-law and his spouse, the Rev. Jackie and Mary Price of Lawndale; three sisters, Iva Meade and Estelle Hoyle of Shelby, and Edith Ashley of Lawndale; three grandchildren, Teresa Sells, Johnny Scism II and Tammy Scism; and five great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Hebron United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Patricia Tiffany and Jackie Price officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be at Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.
