Ruby Louise Anthony McGinty

BAY CITY, Mich. — Mrs. Ruby Louise Anthony McGinty, 86, formerly of Shelby, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, in Bay City, Mich., following a brief illness.

She was born to Augustus and Ada Poston Anthony on April 14, 1916, in Shelby. Following her marriage to Raymond McGinty on April 17, 1937, they moved to Flint, Mich., for 41 years, where she and her husband were employed with Flint Home Furnishings Company. They returned to Shelby in 1978 and resided there until Raymond’s death on Jan. 25, 1991, at which time Ruby moved to Bay City to be near her daughter, Kaye.

Surviving family members include two daughters, Anida Evans and husband, Fred, of Marana, Ariz., and Kaye Gougeon and husband, Joel, of Bay City; two granddaughters and two grandsons; 6 7/8 great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother, Ada Ledford, Mabel Blanton, Carolyn Mosteller, Martha Fortenberry and Sherwood Anthony. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by two sisters and three brothers, Mozell Farmer, Gladys Weathers and Walter, Shannon and Astor Anthony.

A graveside service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Shelby, with the Rev. Gene Daggerheart officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Ross Grove Baptist Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
