George Washington Boles, Jr

LAWNDALE — Mr. George Washington Boles Jr., 69, of 907 Warlick Road, died Aug. 12, 2003, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. Born on Aug. 26, 1933, in Robbins, Tenn., Mr. Boles was the son of the late George Washington Boles and Audrey Goad Boles.

After serving as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict, Mr. Boles worked as an airline executive at Eastern Airlines and Pan American World Airways from which he retired. While employed by Eastern Airlines he was assigned to the Military Airlift Command in Guam and the Philippines during the Vietnam Era.

Mr. Boles was a member of Carpenter’s Grove Baptist Church, American Legion Post No. 292 of Miami, Eastern Airlines Retiree Association and former member of Miami Springs Golf and Country Club and the Men’s Golf Association in Miami Springs, Fla. He was an active supporter of the March of Dimes and the American Red Cross.

Mr. Boles is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sue Warlick Boles of Lawndale; a brother and his wife, William Howard and Betty Boles of Robbins, Tenn.; a brother and his wife, John Curtis and Shirley Boles of Indianapolis; a sister, Jo Ann Boles Shoemaker of Elgin, Tenn.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Yates and Marlie Dean Warlick of Lawndale; a sister-in-law and her husband, Ostine and Luther West of Mocksville; a sister-in-law, Frances R. Warlick of Shelby; 14 nieces and nephews; and 28 great-nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Carpenter’s Grove Baptist Church in Lawndale with the Revs. Jerry Welch and Steve Boles officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
