Lusenior Champion Laughlin

LAWNDALE — Luesenior Champion Laughlin, 84, 206 E. Main St., died June 13, 2002, at home.

She was born Jan. 19, 1918, in Cleveland County, daughter of the late Grayson Edgar and Martha Doan Jones Champion.

FUNERAL: Noon Saturday, Lawndale United Methodist Church

INTERMENT: Rose Hill Memorial Park

She was retired from Cleveland Mills and Fiber Industries, member of Lawndale United Methodist Church, also a member of the choir at Lawndale UMC for many years. A devoted wife and loving mother.

SURVIVORS: Husband of 66 years, James Thomas "J.T." Laughlin, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Farrell and Betty Laughlin, Lawndale, Ronnie Laughlin, Fallston, Terry and Pam Laughlin, Cherryville, Freddie and Celeste Laughlin, Shelby; daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Fortenbury, Fallston, Brenda and Steve Garver, Clover, S.C., Trena and Gary Whitaker, Shelby, Tresa Hovis, Gastonia; sisters, Pearl Newton, Ellenboro, Kate Sealey, Oak Island; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: Brothers, Lee R. Champion, Furman "Hernie" Champion, Plato Champion, Grover "Nick" Champion, Jethro Champion, Edgar Champion; sisters, Essie Clark, Selma White; son-in-law, M.A. Fortenbury
