Alma Champion White

POLKVILLE - Mrs. Alma Champion White, 95, of 3743 Elliot Cemetery Road, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

A native of Cleveland County, she was a registered nurse and retired as night supervisor of nursing at Shelby Hospital. She was a member of Polkville United Methodist Church, Camp Call Order of Eastern Star, Women's Auxiliary VFW and a graduate of Rutherford Hospital School of Nursing. She did undergraduate work at Women's Hospital in Philadelphia and New York University in New York City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph S. White; her parents, Robert Marvin and Elizabeth Mode Champion; a grandson, Sean Blanton; five brothers, Yates Champion, Ray Champion, Bill Champion, Robert Champion and John Champion, and a sister, Lucile C. Gillespie.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Vicky White and Jerry Blanton of Polkville; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Wayne and Pamela Blanton; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Sean Blanton and Gracie Ann Blanton.

The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Polkville United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the Elliot Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Palmer Mortuary and other times at the home.
