Cline-Hord, Dorothy

LAWNDALE — Dorothy Anne Cline Hord, 74, Hord Road, died Jan. 24, 2001, at home.

She was a native of Cleveland County, daughter of the late Edward Dewey and Ruby Lattimore Cline, one of the first 100 women admitted to Wake Forest University, one of the university’s first cheerleaders, journalist for the Shelby Star and a Florida paper, taught at Piedmont High School, became a homemaker, served community churches as choir director, member Lawndale Baptist Church, civic and community organizations in Cleveland County and Shelby.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Dwight Beam Hord; son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Jean Hord, Charlotte; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Walker, Charlotte, Ellen and Rick Wease, Lawndale, Jean and Dave Roberts, Boone; grandchildren, Tyler Hord, Chuck, Ricky and Kimberly Wease, Max Borders, Abby Walker, Ivey Mauney, Davis Roberts; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kaitlyn and Caleb Wease

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: Sister, Dorcas White

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Friday, Lawndale Baptist Church, Revs. Paul Williams, John Bridges, body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before service

BURIAL: Rose Hill Memorial Park

VISITATION: 7-9 tonight, Stamey Funeral Home
