Ora Lee Cook Norman

SHELBY — Mrs. Ora Lee Cook Norman, 84, of Sunrise Circle, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at White Oak Manor. 

Born Sept. 9, 1918, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Winslow Jasper and Sarah Elizabeth Davis Cook. She retired from Nitso Manufacturing in Lincolnton as sewing supervisor. She was a member of Norman’s Grove Baptist Church in Belwood. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Matthew Norman; a son, Jimmy Norman; a daughter, Janois Beam; six brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerald and Andrea Norman of Casar; a daughter and two sons-in-law, Doris and Roy Stockton of Conway, S.C., and Donald E. Beam Sr. of Cherryville; a daughter-in-law, Marie Norman of Belwood; eight granddaughters, Sherry Rogers, Sandy Mitchem, Amy Goodman, Cathy Smith, Melanie Hamrick, Karen Martin, Kim Spurling and Amber Norman; two grandsons, Donald Beam Jr. and Brandon Norman; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Norman’s Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Buff officiating. 

Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150; or to Norman’s Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, in care of treasurer, Lynn Willis, 309 Casar-Belwood Road, Lawndale, NC 28090.
