Roy Alexander Cook

VALE - Mr. Roy Alexander Cook, 86, of 7253 Hallman Mill Road, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at his home.

Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Winslow Jasper and Sarah Davis Cook. He retired as a supervisor with Cronland Warp Roll in Boger City. He belonged to Hull's Grove Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. He was the music director for various churches for 50 years, and he and his wife had a monthly music ministry in many area nursing homes for the past 10 years. He also volunteered for 10 years, serving Meals on Wheels.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Dixon Cook, Alvin Cook, Jake Cook, Edgar Cook, Tilden Cook and Lloyd Cook; and a sister, Lucy Cook.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois Sain Cook of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Carroll W. and Barbara Cook of Lowesville; a daughter and son-in-law, Hazel C. and Larry Sain of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Ora Lea C. Norman of Shelby; three grandchildren, Rocky Cook, Tonya Harris and Amy Shipp; and eight great-grandchildren, Raquel Cook, Tia Cook, Kelsie Cook, Caroline Harris, Jada Shipp, Faith Cook, Erin Harris and Wyatt Cook.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hull's Grove Baptist Church, with the Revs. Marcus Redding and Ernie Gardner officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church tonight from 6 to 8:30.
