Bobby Eugene Jones

SHELBY — Mr. Bobby Eugene Jones, 65, of 5404 Canterbury Drive, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

A native of Cleveland County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Flay Eugene and Leona Beaver Jones. He was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean conflict, and was formely employed by Fiber Industries. He later retired as a mechanic from ABB Combustion Engineering. A past Master of State Line Masonic Lodge No. 375 A.F & A.M., he belonged to Christopher Road Baptist Church.

He was a devoted husband, kind brother, loving father, and the proudest “Poppi” in the whole wide world, and he leaves behind a family that will miss him very much. Most of all, he was a Christian whose faith was firm in God.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Marie Martin Jones; a son, Marty Jones and wife Paula of Shelby; a daughter, Melody Ramsey and husband Don of Shelby; two brothers, Ricky Jones of Rutherfordton and Jake Jones of Glenville, Ga., four sisters, Marcia Hopper and husband Ken of Shelby, Linda Vash of Lincolnton, Brenda Clanton of Lake Norman and Emily Keener and husband Gamble also of Lake Norman; six grandchildren, Derek and DeAnna Ramsey, Zachary, Katelyn, and Kandyce and Ethan Jones; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Christopher Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Mickey Heywood officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park with Masonic rites by State Line Lodge No. 375.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and at other times at the home. Memorial gifts may be sent to Christopher Road Baptist Church, 420 Christopher Road, Shelby, NC, 28152.
