Alsie Lankford Scism

SHELBY — Mrs. Alsie Scism, 87, of White Oak Manor, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at her home.

A native of Cleveland County, she was a retired textile worker. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church of Shelby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Lankford and Lizzie Moss Lankford; her husband, Charles Scism; a daughter, Jo Ann Lane; a granddaughter, Kathy Jane Ingle; and nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a daughter, Muriel Denton of Grover; a sister, Lillian Putnam of Shelby; four grandchildren and their spouses, Larry and Pam Denton, Eddie and Debbie Denton, Teresa and Gary Queen and Barry Denton; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be today at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Buff officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.

The family received friends Saturday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Muriel Denton, 1246 Lavender Road in Grover.
