William "Dennis" McKnight

SHELBY —Mr. William “Dennis” McKnight, 49, of 309 Gardner St., died Monday, May 3, 2004, at Lincoln Medical Center.

Born June 17, 1954, in Cleveland County, he was a son of Gladys Carter McKnight of the home and the late William Weldon McKnight. He was a construction worker and a member of Martin Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Alan McKnight; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.G. Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Claude McKnight.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Joyce McKnight of Shelby; a sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Ben Smith of Largo, Fla.; three nephews, Stevie McKnight and wife, Tammy, Timmy McKnight and Travis McKnight, all of Shelby; a niece, Amy Moore of Lions, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Louann McKnight of Lawndale; a stepson, Terry Bright; and a stepdaughter, Shenna Bright.

The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Martin Street United Methodist Church, with Dr. Horace DuBose officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.

Interment will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends tonight at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8:30 and at other times at the home.
