Edith McNeilly Hastings

CASAR - Mrs. Edith McNeilly Hastings, 77, of 442 Corinth Church Circle, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 9, 1924, the daughter of the late Andy Grayson and Blanche Hoyle McNeilly. She was retired as a quality control inspector in the textile industry and was a lifetime member of Corinth Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant child, three brothers, Radford, Quinton and Ralph McNeilly; and two sisters, Pauline Brackett and an infant.

She is survived by her husband, Earl "Shorty" Moten Hastings of the home; two brothers, Donald McNeilly of Casar and Jerry McNeilly of Morganton; and six sisters, Daphine Canipe of Lattimore and Buna Canipe of Polkville, Martha Wilson of Icard, Josephine Huffman and Brenda Williams, both of Casar, and Eloise Martin of Valdese.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church with the Revs. Norris Willis and Cecil Buff officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Clover Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald McNeilly, 441 Corinth Church Circle in Casar.
