Earl Morrison

LAWNDALE - Mr. Earl James Morrison, 79, of  Jimmy Morrison Road, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 27, 1922, in Cleveland County, the son of the late Thomas Lee and Mattie Irene Smith Morrison.

He was retired from Brown & Hooper and Tillman Firestone, where he was a tire recapper. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and former Sunday school superintendent. He served in the Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Morrison.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Frances Bridges Morrison of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Margaret Morrison of Belwood, Richard and Gale Morrison of Lawndale, Jimmy and Dianne Morrison and Tommy and Beth Morrison, all of Casar; a sister, Helen Defonce of Shelby; four granddaughters, Donna Carpenter, Wendy Blankenship and Trudy Morrison, all of Belwood, and Leslie Mosteller of Casar; three grandsons, David Morrison and Brad Morrison, both of Casar, and Truett Morrison of Burlington; four great-grandchildren, Casey Carpenter, Summer Morrison, Daniel Isaacs and Dustin Isaacs.

The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church with Dr. Ernest Speagle officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home and at other times at the home of a son, Richard Morrison, 424 Will Dixon Road, Lawndale.
