Fred Morgan Mullinax

GRANITE FALLS - Fred Morgan Mullinax, 82, of the Camelot Manor Nursing Care Facility and formerly of Morganton, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the nursing home following an extended illness. 

Born May 19, 1919, in Gaston County, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Sally Culbertson Mullinax. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, and his handshake will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Scism Mullinax; a son-in-law, Danny Mosteller; brothers, Lee, Carl, and Bill Mullinax; and sisters, Bessie Barrett and Ethel Bridges. 

Surviving are a son, Tommy Mullinax and his wife, Kathy, of Lincolnton, N.C.; daughters, Linda Smith and her husband, Ted, of Granite Falls, Joyce Williams and husband, Rodney, of Hudson, and Frankie Mosteller of Claremont; 10 grandchildren; eight great-granddaughters and many loved nieces and nephews. His first great-grandson will be born in December. 

The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Revs. Gary Garner, Randy Gibson and Freddie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Joyce Williams, 1715 Carriage Lane, Hudson, N.C. 28638.
