Mrs. M.J.P. Carter Taken by Death; Was Octogenarian

Buried Sunday In Family Cemetery; Church Member For 65 Years

5 July 1854 - 13 Apr 1935

Funeral services were held Sunday at the home for Mrs. Margaret J. Peeler Carter, loved and respected octogenarian of the Palm Tree Community. Mrs. Carter died Saturday after a lingering illness of some weeks. She was nearly 81 years of age.

In charge of the services were the Revs. F.H. Price, of the Shelby LaFayette Methodist church, and Ed Campbell, minister friend of the family.

Four Generations

Interment was in the old Carter family cemetery some piece distant from Palm Tree Methodist church, where four generations of Carters are buried. Mrs. Carter joined the church 65 years ago and was a faithful member up until the time of her death.

Surviving Mrs. Carter are 12 children, 78 grandchildren and 87 great grandchildren.

The children are: step-children, Lee Carter, of Lawndale; Mrs. John Dye, Vale; Robert Carter, Lincolnton; children, Clem Carter, Belton, SC; Joe Carter, Shelby; Mrs. Ed Eaker, Icard; Mrs. Millard Jones, Lawndale; Pink Carter, Columbus, Ga.; Gip, Jess and David Carter, of Lawndale; Mrs. Dargan Hayes, of Hollis.
