Dwight Samuel Perry

SHELBY — Mr. Dwight Samuel Perry, 76, of 208 Moss Road, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Cleveland County, the son of William Samuel Perry Sr. and Minnie Gertrude Poole Perry. He served in the Navy during World War II – Pacific Theater — and retired from Fiber Industries. He was a member of Double Shoals Baptist Church and Lawndale American Legion Post 302.

He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Perry, and a sister, Edith Warlick.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruby Hamrick Perry of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and David Dobbins of Cornelius; a granddaughter and her husband, Melinda and Bryant Hinson of Lawndale; a grandson, Billy Dobbins of Cornelius; great-grandchildren Aubrey and Alec Hinson of Lawndale; daughter-in-law Becky Perry Jones of Shelby; and a brother, William Perry Jr. of Shelby.

The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Double Shoals Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eric Davis officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be at Double Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home.
