Vernie Proctor White

LAWNDALE — Mrs. Vernie Proctor White, 91, of Celtic Road, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.

Born March 4, 1911, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late William Andrew “Andy” Proctor and Mary Elvaina Bumgardner Proctor. She retired from J & C Dying as a lab technician. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William Howard White; two brothers, Sam Proctor and Howard Proctor; and three sisters, Minnie Warlick, Bessie Eaker and Ada Martin.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Nellie White of Shelby; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jack Mauney of Shelby; a sister, Evangie Bowman of Lawndale; three grandsons and their wives, Bobby and Kathy White, Mark and Donna White and Kenneth and Karen Mauney; two granddaughters and their husbands, Melinda W. and Duane Daves and Kimberly M. and John Adams; 12 great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

The funeral will be today at 6:30 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel in Fallston with the Revs. Tim Hendrick and Jody Yopp officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service today at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the homes of the children, Betty and Jack Mauney, 1105 Shamrock Road, Shelby and Bobby and Nellie White, 837 E. Main St., Shelby.

A graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Casar.
