Proctor Bowman, Evangie

LAWNDALE — Mrs. Evangie Proctor Bowman, 88, of 1056 Lawndale-Casar Road, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at Colonial Manor Health Care, Rutherfordton.

Born Feb. 18, 1915, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Proctor and Mary Elvina Bumgardner Proctor. She retired from Esther Mill as a winder. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Proctor Bowman; two brothers, Sam Proctor and Howard Proctor; four sisters, Vernie P. White, Ada P. Martin, Bessie P. Eaker and Minnie P. Warlick; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Pearlie and Ruth Bowman of Casar, Miller and Joyce Bowman of Shelby, and Jerry and Jeanene Bowman of Smithfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Millie and Ophus Hunt of Casar, and Mona and Jake Brittian of Connelly Springs; a daughter-in-law, Helen Bowman of Casar; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be today at 10 a.m. in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
