LAWNDALE - Mrs. Mary Lou Pruett Wallace, 80, formerly of Lawndale, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. 

A native of Cleveland County, she was born March 23, 1921, the daughter of the late Sanford and Maggie Mauney Pruett. She was a hairdresser for 46 years and was a co-founder and operator of Cosmetic Art College in Shelby. She was a member of Casar Baptist Church and the Upper Cleveland Artist Group.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Wallace; an infant daughter, Janie Lou Wallace; a sister, Inez P. Holsclow; and two brothers, Paul Pruett and Forest Pruett.

She is survived by two special nephews and nieces-in-law, Billy and Mary Pruett of Lawndale and Rick and Susan Wallace of Baltimore; a special niece and nephew-in-law, Jeanne and Bill Blanton of Polkville, and a number of other nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Casar Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Cecil Buff officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church after the service and other times at the home of Billy and Mary Pruett, 119 School House Road.
