Dwight H. Richard

MORGANTON — Mr. Dwight H. Richard, 87, of 159 Clay St., formerly of Shelby, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Grace Hospital in Morganton.

Born March 4, 1915, in Burke County, he was a son of the late C.B. and Mittie Bivins Richard. He retired from Lily Mill Co. and Dover Mill Co. as a doffer. He also served in the Navy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura A. Armour Richard; a son, Jerry E. Richards; a brother, Fred Richard; two sisters, Bessie L. Richard and Annie Bell Richard Edmondson. 

He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Edna “Pete” Mull Richards of Morganton; two grandsons, Tracy E. Richards and wife, Lynn, and Stephen V. Richards and wife, Kathy, all of Morganton; and three great-grandchildren, Brad E. Richards, Jill E. Richards and Katie L. Richards, all of Morganton.

The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Landmark Baptist Church, Shelby, with the Rev. Allen Davis officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church and at other times at the home of his daughter-in-law, Edna “Pete” Richards, 207 Northwestern Drive, Morganton.
