Wease Champion, Mary Sue

LAWNDALE — Mrs. Mary Sue Wease Champion, 81, of Southard St., died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at White Oak Manor.

A native of Cleveland County, she was born April 22, 1922. She was a retired nurse’s aide at White Oak Manor in Shelby and member of Lawndale Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee Champion Jr. her parents, Ezra Gold Wease and Myrtle Mae Ledwell Wease, five brothers, Howard, Ben, Ed, Ezra and Tommy Wease and two sisters, Shirley Brown and Lois Waters.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Frances Champion of Shelby; a sister, Adele Eaker of Lawndale; a grandson and his wife, Scott and Laura Champion of Lattimore; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Karalei Champion of Lattimore and a special family friend, Todd Jordan of Lawndale.

The funeral will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service and other times at the home of son, Steve and Frances Champion, 804 Dixon St., Shelby.
