Thomas Wright "Tommy" Wease

LAWNDALE — Mr. Thomas Wright “Tommy” Wease, 73, of 156 Ball Park Road, Lawndale, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at home.

Born Aug. 20, 1929, he was a native of Cleveland County and son of the late Ezra Gold and Myrtle Mae Ledwell Wease. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ezra, Ben, Howard and Edward Wease; and two sisters, Lois Waters and Shirley Brown.

He was self-employed in business for 46 years as owner of Lawndale Dry Cleaners and for the past 16 years at Lawndale Paint and Supply. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lawndale, where he was a charter member of the Methodist Men, attended Piedmont High School and Howard Business College.

He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed in Bussac, France.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mattie Sue Garver Wease, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Kim Wease of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Mary Sue Champion and Adell Eaker, both of Lawndale; a mother-in-law, Vada Garver of Lawndale; and two grandsons, Brett and Brady Wease.

The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Lawndale. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park with the Revs. David Reep and Zeno Wright officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 to 3 p.m. before the service Saturday.
