Sarah Pauline Whisnant White

SHELBY - Mrs. Sarah Pauline Whisnant White, 83, of 1550 Charles Road, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

She was retired from Matthews-Belk in Gastonia, where she was a seamstress. A native of Cleveland County, she was born Oct. 15, 1918. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Summie Gold White; her parents, Perry M. and Rose Lee Milton Whisnant; a son, Wayne Whisnant White; five brothers, Cletus Whisnant, Mallard Whisnant, Memory Whisnant, Durham Whisnant and P.M. Whisnant; and two sisters, Florence Whisnant and Winnie Burns.

She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Polkville High School. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Gastonia and Gaston Senior Citizens.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Summie Gilbert "S.G." and Camille White of Hampton, Va.

The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Stamey Funeral Home with the Rev Michael Harrill officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Nellie Camp, 805 Hampton St., Shelby.
